This is a silent ceremony: “Silence” being a state of body, mind, and soul. This helps us listen more intently to things we miss in everyday settings.

In our Silence, we’ll focus on our breath- that’s our anchor here. We’ll also receive tiny bits of non-silent input (recordings from spiritual teachers, minimalist music) during breaks from meditation. Our goal is to arrive into a deep, deep state of mindfulness, not just for the sake of accomplishing something difficult but also to open a door to spiritual exploration.

We arrive in Silence, use a slow Group Walk to settle into the Silence, set the space together in silence, then start our rounds of meditations. Towards the end we’ll do some body scanning (to help relieve any soreness that we might find in our sitting meditations), and loosely-guided written reflections.

Located at the Main House at Amethyst Retreat Center: 44 Buffalo Creek Road, Duncannon PA.

Attendees can bring: a meditation cushion & blanket, mug for tea, journal & writing utensil (none of these required, but welcomed)
