                                                                                                COVID PROTOCOL

Amethyst Foundation is committed to following the Covid-19 guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health[1] and the CDC’s suggestions for Youth and Summer Camps[2], for the safety of our staff, students, and families. We are constantly monitoring resources provided by these entities for any changes in protocol. Below is a summary of Amethyst’s protocol during the Jr. Tracker camps.

• Check-in and check-out
There will be a table near the front door to the farmhouse, for check-in and check-out. In an attempt to stagger registration, while another camper is being checked in/out with Dr. Don Kovacs, please remain in your vehicle. Campers are to remain outdoors, with the exception of staggered lunches in the air-conditioned common room, given the anticipated high temperatures.

Staff and campers will be expected to pass a temperature check each morning during check in. If that temperature is 99.7 degrees or higher, the staff/camper will be expected to return home immediately and undergo evaluation for possible Covid-19 before returning to camp.

Karen will be accepting each child’s lunchbox to refrigerate, as necessary. She will later heat lunches, if required, and bring lunch to each child. Each camper’s belongings are to be kept separated from others’ and in individually labeled containers.

• General Operations
  • Students and staff are to remain at least 6 feet apart, and are not to share objects. We will be outside the duration of the camp, which will help to mitigate the spread of any potential virus.
  • Hand cleanliness - Campers and staff are encouraged to sanitize hands frequently. An outdoor hand-sanitizing station will be made available, with hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol content.
  • Use of Masks - Governor Wolf has announced 7/1/2020 that while outdoors, if a distance of 6’ cannot be consistently maintained, masks are required to be worn.[3]
  • Snacks offered will be in pre-packaged boxes or bags.
  • High-touch areas will be disinfected multiple times a day during camp.[4]
  • Expectations for parents – It is expected parents understand the symptoms of Covid-19. We are asking that if you are concerned your child might have these symptoms that you keep them home and arrange alternative care while consulting with their primary care physician.
  • Staff and campers are to stay home if they have tested positive for, or are showing, COVID-19 symptoms. Sick staff members or campers should not return to camp until they have met CDC’s criteria to discontinue home isolation.
